The Silver River Chapter hosted the 2011 Winternationals here in Ocala March 3-6 at the Holiday Inn & Suites. We had 140 women attend from all over the US & Canada. Shirley Frantum got the award for riding the farthest, all the way from California. Some even logged Iron Butt rides from the snow in New Jersey to Florida. We rode to Ocala Harley Davidson on Thursday evening and enjoyed a wine & cheese reception with some awesome prizes & discounts. Two of our members even bought new bikes! Friday morning we rode to Gainesville Harley for a free lunch & merchandise discounts, and then to Micanopy for dessert and shopping. We returned to the hotel for a Cheesburger in Paradise Party. Saturday we rode to Cedar Key for shopping & fresh seafood on the Gulf of Mexico. Saturday night we held our awards banquet and were fortunate to have Cris Sommers as our guest speaker. She rode her vintage Harley Davidson motorcycle in the coast to coast Cannonbal run and fascinated us with her tales of the journey. We raised $1123 with an auction for Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Research and then danced the night away to live music from Generations. Sunday when the event ended quite a few of us headed over to Daytona for Bike Week and continued the fun there. We are looking forward to seeing everyone in Tennessee at the Summer Nationals. Why don't you join us?
